2026 Fall Semester (115-1) International Student Admission



【Required Documents】

1. Application Form (Online)

Each applicant may select up to two program preferences. If accepted into both, the first preference will be considered the final admission offer.

2. Proof of Payment for the Application Fee

Applications without payment will not be processed.

No refunds will be given under any circumstances, including: Withdrawing the application, Failing to meet requirements, Payment errors or duplicate payments

3. Certificate of Nationality

Upload the passport information page. 

If available, also upload the Alien Residence Certificate (ARC).

4. Academic Credentials

For current students: If expecting to graduate this semester, upload a Certificate of Enrollment (Chinese or English).

For graduates: Upload the official diploma in both local and English languages. Merge the two versions into a single file for submission.

If the diploma is in another language, provide an authenticated English translation (sealed by the university or a notary public).

5. Official Transcript(s)

Upload transcripts, including grades for every semester.

If not in Chinese or English, provide an authenticated English translation (sealed by a notary public).

6. Financial Support

Submit proof of sufficient funds (~USD 3,800 for the first year at NKUST) through one of the following:

►Scholarship Certificate: Must be a full scholarship from the Taiwan government or other institutions.

NKUST scholarships and pending applications are not accepted.

►Bank Financial Statement : An official bank statement (issued within the last 3 months) showing a minimum balance of USD 3,800.

If the bank account is not under the applicant's name, a sponsor declaration is required, stating:

The sponsor’s relationship to the applicant. A guarantee to cover all study expenses in Taiwan.

7. Recommendation Letter

Fill in the referee’s information in the system. The system will notify referees directly.

Ensure that referees submit their recommendations before the deadline.

8. Declaration Form & Additional Proof of Nationality

Download from the application system. Sign manually (handwritten name, not typed).

Additional Proof of Nationality: If subject to the MOE “International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan” regulations, provide supporting documents.

This applies to: Individuals with past or current ROC nationality.

Those with Hong Kong/Macau permanent residency.

Former Mainland Chinese citizens.

9. Language Proficiency Test Certificate

(1). Applicants are required to submit appropriate language proficiency proof in accordance with the language of instruction of the program applied for.
If a department or program specifies higher requirements in its annual prospectus, such requirements shall prevail.

(2). Language proficiency certificates must be issued by internationally recognized testing institutions and be verifiable. Applicants to Chinese-taught programs are required to demonstrate Chinese proficiency equivalent to CEFR A2 or above;
Applicants to English-taught programs are required to demonstrate English proficiency equivalent to CEFR B1 or above. Applicants to programs conducted in both Chinese and English are required to submit proficiency certificates for both languages.

(3). Applicants who meet one of the following conditions are exempt from submitting English proficiency test results:

A. Applicants whose nationality is from a country where English is an official or commonly used language.

B. Applicants whose previous degree was fully taught in English, with official documentation issued by the awarding institution.

10. Other Materials Required by Departments

Check specific department requirements and submit additional materials if needed.

 


【Optional documents】

11. Letter of Guarantee for Visa Application (Required for Certain Nationalities)
Based on Ministry of Foreign Affairs, applicants from designated countries (including Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Iraq, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal,
Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, etc.) must:
Fill in their personal information on page 1 of the “Letter of Guarantee for Visa Application”.
There is no need to find a guarantor in Taiwan on your own— it will be assigned by the admitting department.
 
12. An updated certificate of lecturer (For MOE Elite scholarship)

NKUST Scholarship for Outstanding International Students – New Entrants


enlightened申請資格(新生)

依本校外國學生招生規定申請入學者。
僑生、陸生、雙聯學制生、交換生,以及已獲外部補助之外國學生專班學生不符合資格。

Tuition and Fee Payment Regulations


一、 日間部學士班學生

Full-Time Undergraduate Students

(一) 學生依學院別繳交全額學、雜費。
Students shall pay full tuition and miscellaneous fees based on their respective colleges.

(二) 延修生 Extended Study Students
每學期修習 9 學分/小時(含)以下者,依修習時數繳交學分費。
Those taking 9 credits/hours or less per semester shall pay fees based on the number of credits/hours taken.

♦修習 9 學分/小時以上者,應繳全額學、雜費。
Those taking more than 9 credits/hours shall pay full tuition and miscellaneous fees.


 

二、 日間部碩、博士班學生

Full-Time Master's and Ph.D. Students

(一) 前二年繳費方式 Payment Method for the First Two Years
每學期應繳學雜費=(系所最低畢業學分數 × 學分費 ÷ 4 學期) + 學雜費基數,學分數與修習時數不同者,以較高者計算。
The tuition and miscellaneous fees for the first two years (4 semesters) shall be paid based on the following formula:
Minimum graduation credits required by the program × per-credit fee ÷ 4 semesters + base tuition fee.
Note: If the minimum credits and the required study hours differ, the higher value will be used for calculation.

(二) 第三年起 From the Third Year Onwards
僅須繳交學雜費基數至畢業為止。
Students only need to pay the Base Miscellaneous Fee until graduation.

(三)學分費與抵免規定 Credit Fee and Credit Waiver Regulations
學生若多修習日間部學制(含大學及研究所)之學分,不須額外繳交學分費。跨部修課依規定繳費。
Students taking additional credits within the full-time academic system do not need to pay extra credit fees. Fees for inter-departmental courses must be paid according to regulations.

有抵免學分者,學雜費仍依四學期平均方式繳交。
Students who have credit waivers must still pay the tuition and miscellaneous fees based on the four-semester average payment method.

♦惟入學新生於本校大學部以先修生身分或曾經修讀本校研究所學分符合規定核准抵免者,得依抵免學分減繳,減繳學分從碩、博士二年級第二學期往前減繳,視抵免學分而定。
Exception for New Students: New students who successfully waive credits earned as a Pre-student in the University's undergraduate program or previously taken graduate credits at this institution may receive a reduction in fees. This reduction will be applied backward starting from the second semester of the second year of the master's or Ph.D. program, depending on the waived credits.




Ministry of Education-Elite Scholarship Program

The Ministry of Education (MOE) created the Elite Scholarship Program to encourage university lecturers from South and Southeast Asia to pursue doctoral degrees in Taiwan.

This program provides a monthly stipend of NT$25,000 for up to three years to qualified recipients.


Eligibility

To qualify for the Elite Scholarship Program, applicants must:

1. Be international students applying for doctoral programs.
2. Hold an university lecturer or higher teaching position in one of the following countries:

    Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, or Bhutan.

3. Provide an up-to-date Lecturer Certificate (in English).

Applicants are not eligible if they:

1. Hold Taiwan (R.O.C.) nationality or overseas Chinese student status.
2. Are currently enrolled or have retained admission in a university in Taiwan. (Exception: Students graduating in the current term and applying for a higher degree are eligible, provided they meet all other criteria.)
3. Previously studied in Taiwan for the same level of degree they are now applying for.
4. Are exchange students or dual-degree students under partnership agreements with overseas institutions.
5. Have received stipends through this program for more than three years.
6. Are recipients of other scholarships or financial assistance from Taiwan government agencies or foreign governments.


Scholarship Details

Study Year

Fall 2026 admission 

Duration

►Up to 3 years, reviewed annually.

Scholarship Amount

►Monthly stipend of NT$25,000 (1st–3rd year).


Application Process

Required Documents:

1. Up-to-date Lecturer Certificate (in English).
2. Admission required documents.

Submission Deadline:

►The scholarship application should be submitted while applying for admission in March 2026.

Review Process:

1. The admission and scholarship applications will be reviewed by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) and submitted to the Ministry of Education (MOE) for final approval
2. The list of admitted and waitlisted candidates will be determined based on the quota allocated by the MOE.

♦Waitlisted candidates approved by the MOE(the second allocation will be announced in November 2025) must return any previously disbursed monthly stipends before the Elite Scholarship can be officially granted.


Scholarship Termination Policy

1. Scholarship recipients will have their scholarships terminated if they:

♦ Fail to meet the academic performance standards,
♦ Violate the laws of Taiwan,
♦ Receive major disciplinary actions (such as demerits) from their university,
♦ Take a leave of absence, or are expelled from their program of study.

2. Scholarship termination will also apply in the following situations:

In these cases, the remaining scholarship period will not be retained or extended.

♦ If the recipient participates in overseas studies as an exchange student or a dual/joint degree student.

3. Recipients who take a leave of absence to go abroad and obtain approval from their university, which is then forwarded to the MOE, may have their scholarships temporarily suspended rather than terminated.

♦ Scholarships will not be issued for the period during which the recipient is outside Taiwan.
♦ If the recipient has been abroad for more than 15 days in a given month, the scholarship for that month will not be subject to reimbursement.


Remarks

 1. Dual Scholarships Prohibited: Recipients cannot receive an NKUST Scholarship for Outstanding Foreign Students while on this scholarship.

 2. Enrollment Required: Recipients must complete enrollment procedures each semester to continue receiving the stipend.
