Ministry of Education-Elite Scholarship Program

Eligibility

To qualify for the Elite Scholarship Program, applicants must be international students who are Doctoral degree-seeking applicants, and are currently university lecturers* or professors in Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, or Bhutan.

* An up-to-date Lecturer Certificate (English version) is required.

Applicants may not apply if they:

1.Hold Taiwan (R.O.C.) nationality or have the status of an overseas Chinese student.

2.Are currently enrolled or have retained admission in a university in Taiwan. (This restriction does not apply to students who are on course to graduate and will be pursuing their next degree; however, they must still be a lecturer from a South or Southeast Asian country.)

3.Previously studied in Taiwan for a degree at the same level.

4.Are exchange students or dual-degree students through a partnership agreement with an institution overseas.

5.Has already received stipends through this program for more than three years.

6Have been awarded another form of financial assistance by foreign governmental institutions or scholarship from a Taiwan (R.O.C.) government agency to support their studies in Taiwan.

Study Year

Commencing from the 2024 Fall Semester

Application Time

Jan. 31~ Mar. 31,2024

Duration of Scholarships

3 years (in Ph.D. programs reviewed annually)

Applicants must complete the enrolment procedures every semester to receive the three-year continuous scholarship.

Amount of Scholarship

Monthly Stipend NT$ 25,000 (1st-3rd year)

(1) Please apply for this scholarship while applying for admission.

(2) The admission application will be evaluated by the department of OIA and will be reviewed by the Admissions Administration meeting.

(3) The applicant is required to upload the up-to-date Lecturer Certificate to the system. The scholarship application will be reviewed by NKUST OIA and the MOE.

Remarks

Note:

(1) Recipients are NOT allowed to receive a NKUST Scholarship for Outstanding Foreign Students during the period of receiving this scholarship.

(2) Recipients should have completed the enrollment procedures in each semester in order to receive a continuous stipend for their studies in Taiwan.

(3) The scholarship will be cancelled if recipients apply for a deferment, suspension, or get expelled from the enrolled program(s).
